NINE-chapter 1.5

  • I’m making quite alot of progress with this!

“Sorry, my mistake.” Talus sincerely apologised to the man.

“What do ye want?” The old man’s expression changed.

“May I know what happened to the black sword that used to be there?” Talus pointed at the place where the sword used to rest.

“Black sword?” The man looked at Talus and started to observe him.

“Aye.” Talus, havimg replied in affirmative, was given a strange look by the old man.

Talus, ignoring the look, asked, “Well do you know anything about it?”

“There never was a black sword out there. Ye eyes must’vt failed ye.” The man returned to his original way of talking.

Talus, tilting his head, went to where the sword the same size of the black one, rested. As he slid his hand across the blade, he could feel that there was something strange with the blade, something unusual.

There was magic within the blade. Talus could only tell that there was magic within the blade, and not anything else.

Talus took the blade, and walked to the man. “How much is this?” Talus inquired.

“100 dezas.” Talus, feeling lazy about counting, directly threw the sack of 300 dezas to the man.

“Keep the change.”

And just like that, Talus bought a sword for 2/3 the average salary of a year.

Talus, only after leaving the shop, realised: I need to buy a shealth for this.

However, Talus had foolishly given all his money to the man, and could only walk around with the sword in hand.

Many people gsent him quizical gazes, however Talus, ignoring all of them, exited the black market.

The first thing he did after exiting the black market was walk towards his home. He wanted to get rid of the sword. And fast.

He walked through alleys and across roads, before he reached his home.

He kicked open the  door and threw the sword in. Well… more like the sword fell in due to it’s weight

Why the hell is that sword so heavy!?

And just like this, Talus bought a sword that was immensely heavy.

NINE-chapter 1.4

  • Hi. I’m sorry okay? I was busy so 1.3 came 2 days later than it should have.

“25 000 dezas!”

It was said by a voice that Talus was familiar with, he just couldn’t remember where he heard it from. As such, he decided to ignore it and continue listening to the auction.

“Lady, please come up to the stage to claim the ancient sword.” The man holding the sword instructed her.

The owner of the voice could now be seen, as she walked up the stage.

A dazzling young woman walked up the stage, with two people following behind her.

Again, Talus thought she was very familiar, and so were the clothes she wore.

“Young lady, thank you for your donation.” The man holding the sword once again said, as he held the sword out towards the young lady.

The young lady took the sword into her hands, and without saying anything, turned around and left.

And just like this, the crowd dispersed and only the people who wanted to know the young lady’s name stayed behind. Some tried to introduce themselves to her were coldly ingnored.

Talus, of course, was part of the group that dispersed, since he wanted to learn more about the 100 dezas ancient sword.

He walked to the shop wherein he saw the ancient sword, only to see that it had been replaced with a sword exactly the same size.

Guess it’s been sold already… Talus thought dejectedly. However he did not leave, but instead entered the shop. He wanted to learn more about the ancient sword.

When he entered the shop, the first thing he did was sneeze. There was a thin layer of dust over everything, and Talus would have thouht it was abandoned, if not for the old man sitting behind the counter.

The old man had long, white hair, and tattered clothes. Talus would have thought he was dead and the shop was indeed abandoned, if not for the occasional twitch of the head and hand.

“Hello…?” Talus walked in front of the counter, and put his face in front pf the old man.

“Huh?” The old man, as though he just woke up from a dream, looked around dazed and confused.

As soon as his eyes met Talus’s, he quickly said,”Welcome to Phoetus’s weaponry and potions shop!” However, he said it too fast, so Talus heard it as “Welcome to fools versus weoponry and bullshit shop!” Of course that was not exactly what Talus heard, but what he pieced together after hearing it.

“Fools versus weoponry and bullshit shop?” Talus, like any other person would do, questioned the sanity of the old man in front of him.

“No! I said phoetus’s weaponry and potions shop!” The old man screamed at Talus. It was, in fact, understandable. I mean, what would you do when the name of you shop was translated into ‘fools versus weaponry and bullshit’?

Thus, that was how Talus made his first impression on the man that was going to help him alot on his quest to seek the truth.

NINE-CHAPTER 1.3

Talus walked towards the black market.
Looking at the items on display, something caught his eye. A sword, entirely pitch black, except for a red gem embedded into the bottom of the hilt.
Even though it was pitch black, one could still see the patterns engraved on the sword.
A dragon could be seen on the hilt of the sword and patterns on flames could be seen on the blade of the sword.
100 dezas. This was the thing that caught his eye. This sword was without a doubt an ancient sword, so why did it only have a price of 100 dezas?
Usually, any ancient sword reached up to 10 000 dezas in price. However, nobody even cared about it! They walked past it without caring, and as Talus looked a little more closely, he could
see that they were walking in one direction. “Sir, what’s happening?” talus could hear someone within the crowd ask.
“Don’t you know? The Tria family household is giving away an ancient sword for free!”
The Tria family household was a noble family which was kind and caring. They often gave money and food to the poor, and education to the uneducated.
Their title of nobility was given to them by the king, who was also kind and caring. The Tria family had many slaves, to let them have a job.
Without hearing the rest of their conversation, talus walked in the same direction the others were going.
In front, he could see three people standing on a stage. One of the men held a silver sword, and it reflected light from the sun, making it seem like it was made out of light.
Carvings could be seen on the blade, confirming that it was an ancient sword. Gasps could be heard within the crowd. Most of them had never seen an ancient sword ever in their lives.
However, Talus had seen so many ancient swords in his life he was sick of it. Talus himself didn’t own an ancient sword. Most of the people he knew, however, owned ancient swords.
It was so common in his life that he forgot that it was even rare anymore.
“This is the Balteraza, also know as the sword of light. We will now commence the giveaway. The amount of money the highest bidder bids will be fairly distributed among the poor.”
“The highest bidder will also get the sword of light. Starting bid, 10 000 dezas!” the man who was behind the manholding the sword shouted.
“11 000 dezas!” A man instantly shouted. The man holding the sword looked taken aback, like he never expected this to happen.
“20 000 dezas!” Another voice could be heard.
“25 000 dezas!” This time, it was a woman’s voice.
People gasped at the high prices. The price escalated to more than 2 time the price with just 3 bids!
“25 000 dezas once!” No one spoke
“Twice!” Again, no one spoke.
“thrice!” The crowd was silent.

NINE-Chapter 1.2

Talus was a man who wasn’t really tall, yet not short. He had a medium build and his clothes weren’t very expensive. If one didn’t look closely, they might even mistake him for a beggar.

His neighbours didn’t mind him at all since he rarely bothered them and mostly kept to himself.

On the surface, looked like a simpleton. He was an ordinary mercenary who escorted people for a living. Many people in Vulnia worked as mercenaries for a living. They didn’t have an education and as such, could only let their blade be for hire.

However, now, he was currently fighting against a group of ten people without even moving! The ten men working for the fat men were kneeling down!

“What the hell is this!”(Kneeling guy no.1)

“OW!”(The babyish kneeling guy)

Grunts and squeaks could be heard from the fat man’s henchmen.

“W-what the hell is this?!?” The fat had seen his henchmen’s power in battle and even if it were an elite knight of the King, they shouldn’t have gone down so easily.

“How about it? Wanna give me your money?”

“O-of course milord! Have mercy! Have mercy!” The fat guy was scared for his life. He threw the sack on his belt at Talus and quickly started to run away. The sack was as large as Talus’s fist and around one kilo-gram.

Talus started to walk away like nothing happened. Well, for the most part, Talus did indeed do nothing. He just cast a spell, said a few words, and left. (I mean, he did do alley-way robbery but that doesn’t matter)

The man who was in the middle of getting  robbed stood in shock. the plan was that he would lure people out by making a scene and proceed to rob them but the plan failed… miserably.

Talus proceeded to the black market like he was going while thinking: There sure is a lot of money in here. If I were to make a guess I’ll say… 300 dezas?

Thus, the second chapter of Nine ends with an alley-way robbery, and people kneeling in that alley!

PS: The people are still kneeling in the alley.

NINE-chapter 1

  • I actually did chapter one! I feel so proud of myself.
  • The prologue is actually half finished 😛

The land of Vulnia was lit up by the bright morning sun and the townspeople were setting up their shops along the road. Talus walked between the shops, brooding about what to buy.

He had just finished his tenth job this week and his back was aching. He slid his hand over the items, unsure about what to buy. He didn’t have much money with him since he had just payed off his debt and estimated that he could buy one item only.

“Jeez… maybe I should just save up…” he wanted to save up but he was afraid of robbers. Robbers were common in the land of Vulnia since most people were poor and did not have an education. The chances of you getting robbed while in Vulnia were extremely high so merchants and nobles usually stayed out of Vulnia. This was the reason Vulnia stayed in it’s poor and miserable state.

He walked towards an alleyway between two shops with the handle of his sword in his hand. “Maybe I’ll have better luck in the black market.” he muttered to himself. The black market was known to all the townsfolk as a place for cheap and illegal goods. However, many people would be attacked before they even reached the black market. Many thugs hung out at the black market since the black market was a place that didn’t have guards patrolling in it.

“I smell a fat purse a mile away! Hand over your money and perhaps I can allow you to get to your destination safe and sound!” A voice suddenly rang out. Talus looked around him and saw a man surrounded by people with all sorts of weapons. A fat man stood outside the circle with a neat white suit on. “Mi-milord h-how much do you n-need?” The man was stammering and a single emotion was written on his face: fear.

“One hundred and fifty dezas and I’ll let you go.” The fat man chuckled.

“O-of course milord!”

Talus couldn’t stand by the sidelines and watch anymore. One hundred and fifty dezas was a whole year’s worth of salary in Vulnia! “Oi! Fat guy! Gimme all your money!” Talus bellowed. He knew talking most certainly wouldn’t work and the only choice left would be fighting.

Talus drew his sword from his scabbard and pointed it directly at them. “YOU BASTARD! GET HIM!” As soon as he said that, the people surrounding the man charged towards Talus.

Death awaits you.”

NINE – Prologue

  • AUTHOR NOTES
  • Dawn here. My first story so don’t judge me okay?

  • If there are any mistakes please tell me.

—————————————————————————————————————————————

He stood face to face with the suits of armour, holding eleven swords with his two hands and nine tails. He stood still, his tails waving behind him. The suits of armour ran towards him, their swords at the ready.

There were around fifty suits of armour and they were all white outlined with gold.

When they were in range, they weaved and slashed the figure at a speed that should have been impossible to see. However, he blocked all the attacks with a single sword. The suits of armour continued attacking but their attacks were all met with his sword.

“How weak. Pathetic.” He sneered at the figures that were attacking him. He proceeded to raise his other sword and smashed it into the ground. The figures suddenly stopped their movements before crumbling to the ground. However there was no damage inflicted onto the floor and looked like how it was before the fight even happened. It was as if the fight never happened, except for the suits of armour on the floor.

Clap. Clap. The sound of clapping could be heard in the room. “Thesurs, you know these things wouldn’t be able to touch me, so why try?”

The man whom was called Thesurs replied”These were the strongest creatures I could create, you know?” He chuckled whilst kicking the suits of armour with his foot.

“Why have you come?” His gaze suddenly turned serious and he stopped kicking the suits of armour. The suits of armour came together and created a pile of scrap.

“Khelier is in trouble again.” He sighed and started gazing at the sword he used to block the suits of armours’ attacks.

“Can’t you solve the problem yourself?” Thesurs’s serious attitude didn’t change and instead, a hint of worry could be heard.

The man gazing at the sword looked up and took in a deep breath. “He caused an alternate dimension to appear…”

“THAT BRAT! The last time he caused an alternate dimension to appear, I let him off the hook! Now he returns and causes another dimension to appear! Just who does he take me for!” He was very displeased and the air around him stared to turn red. Out of a sudden, the air around him returned to normal and he sighed. “Guess it can’t be helped…”

“Don’t worry, I’ll give you back your lost time, I promise.”

“You better no go back on your word!”
